The European Energy Exchange (EEX) is the leading energy exchange which builds secure, successful and sustainable commodity markets worldwide – together with its customers. As part of EEX Group, a group of companies serving international commodity markets, it offers contracts on power, natural gas and emission allowances as well as freight and agricultural products. EEX also provides registry services as well as auctions for Guarantees of Origin, on behalf of the French State.

Power

As the leading exchange platform in the European power market, EEX offers trading in power derivatives for euro-denominated cash-settled futures contracts for 20 European power markets across Europe. Among EEX’s largest markets, the German Power Future is the most liquid power product which also is the benchmark contract in European wholesale power trading. In the North American market, EEX Group offer contracts that can be traded via Nodal Exchange, which offers the world’s largest set of electrical power locational (nodal) futures contracts. In May 2020, EEX Group launched Trade Registration services for the Japanese Power Market. Within less than two years, EEX established their leading position in the Japanese Power Derivatives market, confirmed by an 87% market share in cleared power futures volumes.

Natural Gas

EEX offers natural gas contracts in 10 countries and 11 hubs across Europe. The product range covers spot, futures and options contracts for the major European gas hubs as well as trading in location spread products between these market areas. EEX also offers a Trade Registration service for JKM® LNG contracts against the S&P Platts JKM® assessment, today's most reliable price estimation for the Asian region.
